SO winter has totally landed in Africa,,,southern Africa, Zimbabwe more specifically, and it has no mercy!!!And I’m thinking to myself, how to maintain our style edge without risking frost-bites and all other diseases….not too easy I know, but it can be done! The point is, winter is characterised by gloomy and windy weather, but we dont have to look “windy and gloomy” too;). So below are a few tips on how to ward off the chills and still look fabs;

  • winter boots;(these could be thigh-high, knee-high, wellingtons or even cowboy boots)…there is such a wide variety, the point is to choose what suits you best!

  • chic scarfs/ scarves.…I love scarfs and wish I could wear them all-year through without getting some weird stares!so, thank God for the perfect excuse to put on lovely scarfs..winter! They can be worn differently for that chic look, and I personally use mine as head-gear sometimes!yeah, right!(see bottom pic) Not sure if its total fashion YES, but I do know that it keeps the ears warm!lol!
  • thick wooly pulling socks; these will also kick off the winter blues. Black ones work with almost anything…I prefer to have mine with closed shoes, but hey, you can make your  own rules and be the one to set a new trend!

Will keep this one short and sweet, but please do share your winter-must-haves with me!

Own It Like Zane!!!

Now, no one rocks the “pencil skirt” better than Rachel Zane, the character played by Meghan Markle in one of my absolute favourite series, “Suits”!!!Rachel is a paralegal in a very successful law firm, Pearson Hardman. So, when I started on this series, I didn’t expect much fashion-wise, being a legal-series etc, I was expecting the usual black suits and boring dark and sad colours,,,but heaven knows I was gasping each time, particularly at Megan’s impeccable sense of style! Without setting your expectations too high, please note that Rachel’s style is not over-the-top, elegant, simple and definitely cant be ignored!If you are a young female going up the ladder(even if you are still at the bottom, hey!), me and you can learn a lot from Ms Zane!

She especially knows how to own the pencil skirt-look,,,that being my subject of discussion today.So, “pencil skirt”, as the name suggest is pretty much that straight, fitting and simple skirt,usually formal. Thanks to Zane, this look doesn’t have to be dreary and boring.
Pencil skirts can be;
*paired with feminine soft coloured ruffled blouses (“serve” tucked in for the best results!!!!lol)
*detailed to add a bit more fun!(now is the time to play with that button detail, a bow and even peplum detail!!)
*worn with a formal crisp shirt,,,tucked in too(see images).

The secret is to have the perfect fit for your pencil-look,strike the balance between too-tight-and-absolutely-inappropriate and too-loose-and-clumsy!I personally prefer to have my pencil skirts in the dark colours, brown, black and grey,,,that way I can play around with the blouse as far as colours are concerned!

PS; This look is appropriate for nearly everyone,,from the slim ladies to the bootylicious Kim-Kardashianshianites as its obvious that she looks amaze in that blue bodycon pencil skirt! So go ahead, try it on and give us feedback and post images too,,,will be sure to do the same.

No Apologies For Looking GLAM-GLAM!

So I stand guilty of almost always “standing-out” with regards to how I dress and present myself…in a good way though! I’m the kind of person who when i walk in my neighborhood or at work attract a comment from least one person on how either my shoes are on-point, or my beautiful hairdo or something (well, then there’s some people that just give that look and yet the “green bile” forces them to with-hold a compliment where its due…lol…allow me a vain moment!!)

There was a time when I didn’t want to stand out, I just wanted to merge with the rest and disappear into the multitudes of women busy wearing the same old clothes and same old shoes…and then came my “Aha” moment,,,,I was born to stand out,,,and so are you!Its very fine to look fabulous always, no apologies for that.This is not meant to imply that we won’t get it wrong at times, but as long as we have the breath, the resources, everyday we shall wake up and put on our best heels…and the must-have accessories of all times, a SMILE and an air of CONFIDENCE!

Besides, you never know when you will meet your future husband, next boss or even that girl from college that always took every opportunity to make you feel worthless!So here’s to looking fabulous at all times!!!
