Happy 2014 all you fashionistas!!!Hope it will be a glamorous one for you with more fashion “hits” than “misses”!(LOL) I reminisce on how I used to write at the beginning of the year, as a college student, all the items I needed to have before year end; a new clutch bag, a new fashion ring etc, it was fun pursuing those with a lean budget! Older and wiser now, I think that fashion evolves, maybe not as fast as technology, but it does change. So below are some items I’m loving now, all neutral colours!!! I am seriously crushing on the the nudes, the rose pinks, dusty pink etc. Hope to inspire someone…..check some of my favourite neutral coloured items!!!
…and of course look your best during PE!!!!
It’s that time of the year again. For those whose financial year ends in December, its PE time. This doesn’t refer to physical education, we are talking about performance evaluation.
So you spent all of 2013 doing each and everything expected of you. You even put in extra hours and surely the evaluation should be good right? Well today I would like to share a few tips on how to prepare for your performance evaluation. I would like to stress at this point that in 2014 I would like to focus more on the things that you yourself are able to influence and do something about and these tips are well within the control of anyone being evaluated.
1. Ensure you are being evaluated on objectives that were agreed between you and your line manager for the evaluation period. If your organization doesn’t have objective setting as part of its…

Different colour combinations can work, but I am specifically melting for the black-n-white combo! The second and last image show a different side to stripes which is less dramatic – for the shy-girls!(Ms Kardashian in the last pic btw). Check out some items I found online;

In the “shoectionary”, a “kitten heel” is a short slender heel, usually about 3,5-5cm heel size. These were made popular by the mega style icon, Audrey Hepburn!!! These beauties were a hit in the early 60s as they evolved from being “trainer heels” for teenagers to a wardrobe staple for older women! While I appreciate the sexiness exuded by stilettos, there is something elegant about kitten heels, which does not go unnoticed. Present day, First Lady Michelle Obama, is a huge fan of kitten heels, and has them in multiple shapes and colours!(see images below)
I personally see it this way, a woman that dares to wear kitten heels, is a woman that is confident and sure of herself (needing no super high heels to boost her !*chuckles*). This is not to say those who wear stilettos are not confident, NO, in fact, I am a huge fan of stilettos myself, only that sometimes, like today, I just feel like kitten heels 😉
So, which one for you, kitten heels or stilettos?
So my sister recently went for a business trip to Switzerland. Apart from news on how awesome it was for her to rub shoulders with “who’s-who” of her trade, I was more interested in getting an update on the shopping experience that side! So she just confirmed something I had noticed for a while….lace-crazzze! Apparently it’s big that end and the world over, and this got me thinking, is lace just a “fad” or a classic trend that will rule decades later! I still don’t have the answer to that, but until then, I think I will give it a try.
The thing with “lace” is that, it has such a feminine and soft appeal that can’t be ignored. If you want to add softness to your look, this is definitely a winner. I managed to find this one pencil-lace skirt from a Westgate Shopping Mall boutique – sadly, I can’t remember the name of the shop. And recently, my BFF surprised me with a cute peplum top with interesting lacy-detail.
PS; I think with this trend, one needs to tread carefully, as it can easily translate into something tacky n cheap! So go ahead and try it out and let me know how you like it!
This past week was extremely hot, especially here in Harare!!! And I was thinking to myself, bright colours, florals, will probably be a hit this summer, and last summer and summers to come! There is something about bright colours that just brings that cooling effect (Im sure scientists have an interesting explanation involving reflection of sun rays, blah blah blah) So, below are some pics I took in one of my absolute favourite summer dresses…..
