As April draws to a close, I’m reflecting on how our Aprils were different before Covid19- and one word comes to mind – weddings!!!!(exciting,huh?) I know right now it doesn’t feel that exciting or as though we have just been through a wedding season – some of the sad realities we face today. So today I thought I would share a few pointers on wedding etiquette as far as dressing up as a guest is concerned.
- white has always been reserved for the bride so that she stands out on her day. I know present day, trends are changing and some can be daring and get away with it – but out of respect, I would stay away from white, unless if the bride wants it that way.
- jeans are a no-no for me personally – mainly out of respect for the couple and the solemnity of the occassion. But that’s just me, what do you think, jeans at a wedding, yay or nay?
- A clutch is a faithful friend at weddings. Between dashing to get a refill of your favourite drink, socialising with friends and family, your tote is not going to work and will probably slow you down on some dance-floor time. A good clutch is a must have for any lady, from weddings to cocktails. Fascinators also add the some class and va-va-voom to any outfit.

- wedding colour – I know in some circles its common practice to wear the wedding colour. Personally, I would trade with caution on this one. I have been at weddings where either you find three more ladies wearing your dress ( and the who-wore-it-better conversations will soon ensue) or the colour may not just be right for your skin tone. Not to mention the awkwardness of merging with the decor linen.
- black – I say go for it. But try to make it fun and fancy. Accessories will help tone down black from being a funeral colour to being a wedding colour!!!
